Festival of the Red

June 26, 2020 @ 12:00 am - June 28, 2020 @ 11:59 pm

Held at the National Bridge Campground, the Festival of the Red celebrates the scenic Red River Gorge, a winding canyon system withing the historical Daniel Boone National Forest. Festival-goers with an ear and taste for music will be able to tap their toes to an average of 30 or so bands that will keep the beat for three days of fun, music, and food. In terms of range, the music crosses a lot of genres from Appalachian to Folk with a hint or two of Americana.

Traditional festival foods abound as do art and craft booths. However, the stand-out feature is the fact that tickets include the opportunity to camp in any one of the primitive camp areas. Primitive means the tent sites are fitted with fire pits but not much else, so for optimum comfort, you are encouraged to bring your tent and supplies. Of course, when weather permits, hardier fans rough it under the stars with nothing but their festival food, cooler, and sleeping bags as the music jams well into the late evening.
